Public Parks In The Woodlands

With over 150 Public Parks and Recreation areas in The Woodlands, there is ample space available for residents and visitors alike to enjoy the outdoors. The ever-growing list of parks include amenities like basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, a boccie court, Frisbee-disc-golf course, and picnic areas complete with pavilions, picnic tables and barbecue grills.

Additionally, there are "Wheel Friendly Parks" that feature Skateboard Parks (complete with concrete grinding walls, stairs, rails, and bowls) and Bicycle Motocross (BMX) Dirt Tracks. The Woodlands is also home to several Leash-Free Dog Parks. The Woodlands parks, shopping centers, and villages are, or will be, interconnected via The Woodlands Pathways - 4' wide concrete sidewalks that wind through the many trees and neighborhoods. The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department coordinates a multitude of educational and recreational programs for residents throughout the year. If you’ve ever thought about fly casting, tai chi, or learning Spanish, it’s all available through The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department. Explore the various programs offered each season in the frequently updated Action Guide. Residents can register for programs and events online. Registration can also be completed in person at The Recreation Center at Bear Branch Park or call 281-210-3950 The Rob Fleming Recreation Center 281-516-7348.

A recent addition the growing number of parks in The Woodlands is The Ellipse in East Shore. The new private gardened park is the focal point of the new area called Mid-Lake. The park is about 1/2 acre in size, and features a green, elliptical area bordered by picnic areas and seating. Architecture in the garden park includes a fountain, stone spheres, a stone obelisk, and a steel lattice obelisk incorporating blooming plants and shrubs.

  • Skateboards, in-line skates & BMX freestyle bikes (without pegs) only.
  • Wear all protective gear (helmet, knee and elbow guards) as they are REQUIRED.
  • Skate within your skill limits, and at your own risk.
    Taking risks won't impress anyone and you might get hurt. 
  • No bikes with pegs, scooters, Heelys or similar footwear
  • Look before you go! Don't drop in on others!
  • Please leave board wax at home.
  • Be a leader among your peers,  keep your language clean.
  • Please keep track of your equipment.You are responsible for your gear.
  • Shoes and shirts required for park usage.
  • Do not bring ramps or other obstacles to the area.
  • Take care of your park and do not litter. 
  • Glass and/or alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the park areas.
  • If you are between 6- and 10-years-old, bring an adult.
  • Protect your park from abuse.
  • Park hours are dawn to dusk.

Taking risks won't impress anyone and you might get hurt. Attempts at dangerous tricks and maneuvers that place users more than 3 feet above ground level are not allowed in these facilities. Regular bikes or bikes with training wheels are strictly prohibited. Graffiti, stickers or after hours use may cause the park to be closed for further use.

Skateboarding, skating and freestyle bicycling are potentially hazardous recreational activities. Use of the wheel friendly facilities may result in paralysis, brain damage, broken bones, other serious injury, or even DEATH. Any and all use is at your own risk. Neither the The Woodlands Township, nor anyone associated or affiliated therewith, is responsible for any injuries that may occur while enjoying the various resources within The Woodlands parks system.

The Research Forest (or simply Research Forest) is home to a multitude of medical and scientific research facilities, as well as a host of other industries corporate offices. Going a long way towards making working in this unique environment that much better, The Research Forest also has vast green spaces connected with wide and inviting pathways, a park and several restaurants. The Gosling Sports Field is located along the perimeter of Research Forest and Alden Bridge Village.
