The Woodlands is centrally located less than 80 miles from Galveston on the Gulf Coast and within minutes of the Sam Houston National Forest making it easy to enjoy the more than 250 days a year that are warm and sunshiny. And what better way to do that than by packing the picnic basket and heading out to one of the more than 150 public parks in The Woodlands Take Fido out to one of the five dog parks and let him or her romp around and make some new canine friends.
You never have to go far in The Woodlands to find a park. Parks are all across The Woodlands scattered among the various villages. With over 140 Public Parks and Recreation areas in The Woodlands, there is ample space available for residents and visitors alike to enjoy the outdoors. The ever-growing list of parks include amenities like basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, a bocci court, a disc golf course, and picnic areas complete with pavilions, picnic tables and barbecue grills.

There are fourteen pools and aquatic facilities located throughout The Woodlands. Every Village in The Woodlands has at least one swimming pool, some have more than one pool. Each of the pools and aquatic facilities offer a variety of water-based fun and relaxation, sure to help you keep your cool in the hot Texas summer. Enjoy everything from water-spray at any of the three different splash pads and spray grounds, to diving, to water slides, or drifting along the lazy river at the Rob Fleming Aquatic Center.
The Woodlands is also home to five swim teams, The Cyclones TAAF Swim Team, The Hurricanes Swim Club, The Riptides Swim Team, The Waves Swim Team, as well as The Woodlands Junior Swim Team, designed to teach the strokes and skills needed to swim competitively with the other teams. The Woodlands Swim Team (TWST), and The Woodlands Marlins (an NWAL team) also call The Woodlands home.
There are several "Wheel Friendly Parks" that feature Skateboard Parks (complete with concrete grinding walls, stairs, rails, and bowls) and 2 Bicycle Motocross (BMX) Dirt Tracks. The Woodlands is also home to several Leash-Free Dog Parks. The Woodlands parks, shopping centers, and villages are, or will be, interconnected via The Woodlands Pathways - 4' wide concrete sidewalks that wind through the many trees and neighborhoods.
