Triathlons, Marathons & Other Races in The Woodlands
Running and walking events are generally good for local economies and local businesses. Runners often travel from out of town and eat meals, stay in hotels, and purchase gasoline from local businesses. Runners and walkers tend to be loyal to particular races and are crucial to helping the events grow by bringing in friends, relatives, neighbors and coworkers."
The Dragon Boat Festival reflects a large Chinese cultural tradition that goes back 2,400 years. It began on the life-sustaining riverbanks in the valleys of southern China as a fertility rite performed to ensure bountiful crops.
Athletes will first begin with a brisk swim across Lake Woodlands. The 2.4-mile route begins at North Shore Park and ends at Town Green Park. The second event is a 112 mile journey from The Woodlands / Spring into Northern Harris County by completing two loops on the Hardy Toll Road. The last event is a 26.2-mile run concluding with a spectacular finish on Waterway Avenue.
The Woodforest Bank TRI is a USA Triathlon (USAT) sanctioned event, and served as the Texas State Triathlon Championship in 2017. The race earned a Top 10 spot in the USAT South Midwest Region for Sprint Distance Triathlons in 2004, and was designated as the USAT South Midwest Region Sprint State Championships for 2007.
After a 19 year haitus, The Woodlands Marathon was once again, in the runnings during the spring of 2012.
The Woodlands Marathon is a world-class event promoting healthy a lifestyle through the sport of running. The Woodlands Marathon event supports the running industry by offering an Elite Prize Purse for professional runners providing them an opportunity to earn money based on their performance.
The 13th annual Muddy Trails Bash is anticipated to be held on Saturday, April 4, 2020. Recent events were held at Rob Fleming Park from 3 to 8 p.m. Produced by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department, the USA Track and Field (USATF) sanctioned event features chip-timed 5K and 10K trail runs, the Little Muddy Kids' One-Mile Fun Run and a 2K-9 Fun Run for you and your dog.
Multiple race options are available so everyone in your family can participate. Awards will be awarded to top finishers in 1 mile, 3 mile and 5 mile runs, (cash awards only to top 4 finishers in 5 mile Run) and everyone who crosses the finish line will receive a medal. All participants receive a finisher medal and complimentary pancake breakfast.
