THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (October 21, 2020) – The Woodlands Township has assumed ownership of the Town Center Trolleys from the Brazos Transit District and has brought the operations in-house. All trolley operations and maintenance staff are now Township employees.
“The trolley service is part of the overall transportation and Waterway corridor operations and experience,” said Gordy Bunch, Chairman of the Board of The Woodlands Township. “It integrates well with our Town Center and Hughes Landing programs and services that The Woodlands Township handles on a daily basis.”

The Woodlands Town Center Trolley Covid 19 Safety

Chairman Bunch said one of the major focuses of The Woodlands Township is to run a safe and dependable trolley operation, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As we move into the holidays, we hope our residents and visitors will take advantage of being able to park their car in one location and use the trolley to get to other locations in the Town Center,” he said. “Most importantly, though, we want our visitors and guests know that we’re operating with very strong safety protocols.”

The Woodlands Township has launched a new video and social media campaign called #SitSafe, focusing on the use of sanitization, personal protection equipment and social distancing to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of Township Transit riders. The #SitSafe program includes a number of steps for passenger safety.

Town Center TrollEys

The Woodlands Town Center area includes Vintage Style Trolley Cars providing street transportation at no cost to pedestrians throughout the shopping and dining areas of Town Center and along the Woodlands Waterway. The trolleys offer Public Transportation providing the perfect way to explore the multitude of Woodlands Town Center Amenities. The Woodlands Trolleys operate seven days a week, almost every day of the year, along a circuitous route that covers a large portion of Town Center.

Town Center Trolley ROUTE

The western portion of the route takes passengers around Hughes Landing, circling Restaurant Row, and the Embassy Suites hotel. The southern portion of the route takes passengers along The Waterway, past the south entrance of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, the patio seating of Tuscany at The Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, across Waterway Avenue before continuing beyond Waterway Square Park to the Lake Robbins shore of the Anadarko building.

After passing under the Lake Robbins drive suspension bridge, the Trolleys approach the Woodlands Mall via the southern piazza. A major feature of Town Center is the Woodlands Mall Courtyard, where the Waterway Cruisers once entered a circular turnabout beneath suspended lighting in the piazza, while the opposite end of the waterway is anchored by Town Green Park. This area features several restaurants as well as direct access to The Woodlands Mall. This is one of the various stops including the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and the Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention center, traveling by the Waterway Trolley system offering a unique way to explore Town Center in a relaxing environment.
Heading west, the Trolleys exit the mall area alongside Cinemark Tinsletown 17 Theaters to reach Lake Robbins Drive and head back along Lake Robbins Drive alongside Market Street. There passengers can enjoy seeing children play in the interactive fountains at Central Park, hop off and enjoy a bite to eat at one of several restaurants, or shopping in dozens of stores.
