The Public Recreation Center at the Village of Creekside Park grand opening was June 5, 1990 and built to serve The Woodlands through programs, promotion of health and well-being of residents and visitors alike. The Creekside YMCA Recreation Center served the community through recreation program scholarships and promotion of other not-for-profit groups for approximately 6 years when it closed following the day camp programs in the summer of 2016. The property would then remain vacant for approximately 1 year. This is one of two recreation centers in The Woodlands, Texas, the other is at Bear Branch Park in Cochran's Crossing Village.
The facility was purchased for $4.5 million, including an additional $500,000 for initial remodeling and campus renovations. Amenity additions of $900,000+ in 2018-2019 including a playground, adventure course, and field lights. Following those updates was the inclusion of Texas TreeVentures which opened Easter Weekend in 2019, which is one of two recreational venues at Creekside Park Village. The Public Recreation Center at the Village of Creekside Park was purchased by the The Woodlands Township at a cost of 4.5 Million and subsequently renamed "The Rob Fleming Recreation Center" with a grand opening in June, 2017.
