From Christmas to Halloween and scattered in between, fun (& frequently free) activities abound in The Woodlands. There's always something going on in The Woodlands. In addition to the numerous activities and seemingly endless entertainment, The Woodlands is home to a variety of annual events – both during the holiday seasons and and throughout the year. The many events in The Woodlands range from no entry fee festivals, to races and marathons. If you're planning a trip to the area, or just trying to fill up your weekend, The Woodlands Festival Guide is a great place to begin your research. The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival

The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, an annual fine art show (typically) featuring more than 200 national and regional artists using a wide variety of mediums. The 2 day event takes place in April each year alongside the Waterway stretching from The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center alongside The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and beyond. Recent Art Festivals have included assorted free festivities at Waterway Square including sidewalk art (chalk) for the kids and other amateur artists.
The Woodlands Waterway is included in the Town Center area which has ample parking, the free trolley service in the area. Concessions are available within the festival site, and an array of restaurants and shopping within walking distance of the festival. In addition to the art on display from hundreds of artists, patrons can enjoy live entertainment during the weekend arts festival. (ticketed event)

The Woodlands Red Hot Blue Festival

Get an early start on July 4th, wear your red, white and blue and get a prime viewing spot for the exciting South County 4th of July Parade.
Independence Day in The Woodlands begins with the Annual South County Parade in Town Center. Staging is at the United Methodist Church on Lake Woodlands Drive, this will be the start and end of the parade route. The 1.3-mile parade route passes through and around Market Street, entering near the pavilion box office and exiting the opposite side.

The July 4th parade begins at 9 a.m., with marching bands, fire engines, clowns, horses, dignitaries and the like, along with multiple locally made celebratory floats.
A tent will be set up in front of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion for senior citizens and the physically challenged to obtain relief from the summer heat. Roads involved by the parade route will be closed during the parade.

July 4th Fireworks Display

The Red, Hot & Blue Festival and Fireworks Extravaganza is held every year in The Woodlands. This event in The Woodlands Town Center is attended by tens of thousands of people to celebrate America's Independence. There are multiple hot spots for viewing the celebration including Waterway Square along the banks of The Woodlands Waterway®.

The Woodlands Lighting of the Doves

The Lighting of the Doves Festival is a long-standing November tradition in The Woodlands that signifies the start of the holiday season in the community. Featuring snow play areas, vendor booths, children’s activities and more, Lighting of the Doves culminates with a special appearance by Santa Claus arriving by sleigh down The Woodlands Waterway followed by a nearby dazzling fireworks display.

Trick or Treat Trail

Princesses, pirates, ghosts and goblins don their costumes and enjoy the annual Halloween celebrations at the annual community-favorite Trick or Treat Trail at Northshore Park. At the event, children have the opportunity to trick or treat from booth to booth and fill their bags with goodies from more than 30 local vendors. Plus, the free event includes great strolling entertainment, inflatables, games, costume contests and more.

Memorial Day

All are invited to celebrate Memorial Day in The Woodlands and honor our fallen heroes, as well as those who have served in the military. The annual festival in May features live music, children’s activities, strolling entertainers and more at Town Green Park. The evening concludes with a dazzling fireworks display choreographed to a patriotic soundtrack.
