Activities for pre-school age children in The Woodlands Texas

From an early age, it is important to help children recognize that learning can be an enjoyable activity. The preschool activities listed below include opportunities ranging from matching games to reading*. but they all have one thing in common, inspiring children to learn. Engaging preschool activities encourage young learners to learn new skills while having a great time. In addition to programs for pre-schoolers, there are a number of activities and events that are sponsored by the Township throughout the year for elementary and middle-school aged children. Events and activities presented by The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department that require a fee can be paid online at their registration page. Ballet Preschool The Woodlands

Toddler Ballet & Tap

Little ones ages 4 - 6 will be introduced to proper ballet/tap technique, terminology and etiquette taught focusing on listening, following directions and waiting turns. The class builds self confidence and a love for the arts. Black leotard, pink tights and leather ballet shoes, hair in a bun, and black tap shoes required. Children can wear any tutu they like! Classes held Thursdays, from 6:30 - 7:15 PM June 21 - July 26 at the Recreation Center at Bear Branch. FEE: $120 per child for residents; $130 for non-residents.
Also available June 20 - July 25, Ballet & Tap will be for children ages 4 - 6, will be held from 7:00 - 7:45 PM on Wednesdays at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming. FEE: $120 per child for residents, $130 for non-residents. All classes are geared towards the joy of learning dance and performing on stage. Caroline Batson is a degreed dance professional and has 30 years experience.

Baby Ballet - Toddlers ages 2½ - 4 will learn great pre-ballet technique and politeness while enhancing your child's imagination in this introduction to the wonderful world of dance, including proper dance technique, terminology and dance etiquette. Listening skills, sharing and waiting turns help little ballerinas in and outside of the dance class. Pink ballet slippers and tights, and black leotard, as well as hair in a bun are required. Tutus are okay! Classes held Wednesdays, June 20 - July 25 from 6:30 - 7:00 PM at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming. FEE: $80 per child for residents; $90 for non-residents.

Tap Dancing Class The Woodlands Texas

MS. DEBI’S DANCE ARTS

Teaching the art of dance for over 25 years in The Woodlands, Ms. Debi is a classically-trained dancer and studio owner, and has a degree in dance education. Required attire: pink leotard, tights and ballet shoes for girls; white t-shirt, blue or black pants for boys. Join the fun!

Little Movers Dance Class - Children ages 3 - 5 will learn to move in a nurturing environment at this first-time dance experience. Classes held on Wednesdays at the Recreation Center at Bear Branch, June 6 - August 29 from 6:15 - 7:00 PM. Also available on Thursdays at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming, June 7 - August 30. Fee: $65 per child per month for residents, $75 per child for non-residents.

Gymnastics for kids The Woodlands Texas

Little Flippers Gymnastics

Little ones ages 3 to 6 will learn mat based gymnastics and tumbling skills, in a 30-minute class that meets once per week. Classes will use mats, wedges, bars and beams, for an all-around first-time experience. This class is designed to begin the development of fine and gross motor skills, strength, flflexibility, balance, as well as basic tumbling and equipment skills and gymnastics terminology. Benefits of this class include the development of a strong work ethic and a focus on group participation for little ones, with lots of encouragement, smiles, and hugs! This class is a fun introductory experience. Attire: shorts, T-shirt, or gym pants. Classes held from 6:30 - 7:00 PM Mondays, June 4 - August 27, at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming. Fee: $65 per child per month for residents, $75 per child for non-residents.

Hot Shots

What better way to find out what sport a child wants to play! Little athletes will love getting a taste of basketball, soccer, playing catch and working as a team. Parent participation may be requested. Your hot shot (ages 5 - 7) will love learning new skills through a variety of fun activities. Held Saturdays, June 2 - 23, July 7 - 28, August 4 - 25, or September 8 - 29, at the Recreation Center at Bear Branch. from 10:40 - 11:20 AM. Fee: $50 per child, per session for residents, $60 for non-residents. Fury Mini-Sluggers - Held on Tuesdays at the Alden Bridge Sports Park, Little sluggers ages 4 - 6 will learn the fundamentals of T-ball including catching, throwing and running the bases. Participants must bring their own mitt. Select from three, month-long sessions: June 5 - 26, July 10 - 31 from 10:00 - 10:55 AM; or August 7 - 28 from 4:00 - 4:55 PM. Fee: $65 for residents, $75 for non-residents, per child per session.

Young Rembrandts - Little Hands

June will be filled with fun on the farm as children ages 3½ - 6 create barnyard images. During July, students will revel in a colorful collection of summer imagery like a fierce shark and a sailboat. In August, they will explore the visual wonders of the playroom. Brightly colored toys, creative compositions and playful imagery will excite the students. All classes held on Saturdays from 9:00 - 9:45 AM at The Recreation Center at Bear Branch and 10:00 - 10:45 AM at The Recreation Center at Rob Fleming; June 2 - 23, July 7 - 28, and August 4 - 25. FEE: $69 per month, per child for residents; $79 for non-residents.

Soccer Shots

Soccer Shots is an award winning children's soccer program with a focus on skill and character development. The age-appropriate curriculum is aligned with the Texas Early Learning Guidelines and teaches children basic and advanced technical skills in a fun and encouraging environment. All children receive an official Soccer Shots season medal and weekly prizes. MINI is for children age 2 - 3, and CLASSIC is for children ages 3 - 5. FEES for the 10-week program at $306 per child for residents, $316 for non-residents, and each session will have a free trial date (FTD) before the program starts. Choose from six locations around The Woodlands. Alden Bridge Park, Tupelo Park, Falconwing Park, Timarron Park, Cranebrook Park, and the Rob Fleming Recreation Center.
