The Woodlands Festival Guide Summer is here and it’s time to experience all The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department has to offer! The annual summer slate of activities includes camps, aquatics, tennis, kayaking, paddle-boarding, fitness, concerts, and special events.
Celebrate freedom in The Woodlands this 4th of July with vendor booths, great food, children’s activities and assorted entertainers across multiple stages along the waterway and in Town Green Park. This community-wide celebration offers fun for all ages. The event culminates with one of the largest fireworks displays in the Greater Houston area.
The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival
is an annual fine art show (typically) featuring more than 200 national and regional artists using a wide variety of mediums. The 2 day event takes place in April each year alongside the Waterway stretching from The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center alongside The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and beyond. Recent Art Festivals have included assorted free festivities at Waterway Square including sidewalk art (chalk) for the kids and other amateur artists.
The Woodlands Waterway is included in the Town Center area which has ample parking, the free trolley service in the area. Concessions are available within the festival site, and an array of restaurants and shopping within walking distance of the festival. In addition to the art on display from hundreds of artists, patrons can enjoy live entertainment during the weekend arts festival. (ticketed event)
Red Hot Blue Festival
Get an early start on July 4th, wear your red, white and blue and get a prime viewing spot for the exciting South County 4th of July Parade. Independence Day in The Woodlands begins with the Annual South County Parade in Town Center. Staging is at the United Methodist Church on Lake Woodlands Drive, this will be the start and end of the parade route. The 1.3-mile parade route passes through and around Market Street, entering near the pavilion box office and exiting the opposite side.
The July 4th parade begins at 9 a.m., with marching bands, fire engines, clowns, horses, dignitaries and the like, along with multiple locally made celebratory floats. A tent will be set up in front of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion for senior citizens and the physically challenged to obtain relief from the summer heat. Roads included in the parade route will of course, be closed during the parade.
Winter Festival The Woodlands
The Lighting of the Doves Festival is a long-standing November tradition in The Woodlands that signifies the start of the holiday season in the community. Featuring ice skating, snow play areas, vendor booths, children’s activities and more. Lighting of the Doves culminates with a special appearance by Santa Claus arriving by sleigh down The Woodlands Waterway followed by a nearby dazzling fireworks display.
Halloween The Woodlands
Princesses, pirates, ghosts and goblins don their costumes and enjoy a spook-tacular celebration at the annual Trick or Treat Trail featuring Monster Mash at the Rob Fleming Recreation Center. At the event, children have the opportunity to trick or treat from booth to booth and fill their bags with goodies from local vendors. The free event also includes strolling entertainment, carnival games, costume contest(s), photo, and selfie areas, food trucks, and more.
The Woodlands Festival Guide
Several festivals and other outdoor events held throughout the year in Town Center. Festival events are frequently held on the Great Lawn in Town Green Park including, the Annual Crawfish festival, the Annual Waterway Arts Festival, and Winter In The Woodlands . The Annual Red, Hot & Blue festival (July 4th) is such a large event that it is spread out across The Woodlands, from Waterway Square to Town Green Park, to the Village of Creekside Park. The annual Winter Wonderland and Ice Rink are held in the recently added Woodlands Multi-use facility which is a component of The Woodlands Pavilion.
Bike Month in The Woodlands
Celebrate Annual Bike Month during May with Bike The Woodlands Day at Northshore Park. This event offers something for everyone including exhibitions by local bike shops and bicycle clubs, maintenance demonstrations covering basic bike maintenance and flat tire repair, bike safety information, children’s activities, a kids’ bike rodeo, live music, inflatables, food and more. Attendees are encouraged to bike to the event.
Memorial Day
All are invited to celebrate Memorial Day in The Woodlands and honor our fallen heroes, as well as those who have served in the military. The annual festival in May features live music, children’s activities, strolling entertainers and more at Town Green Park. The evening concludes with a dazzling fireworks display choreographed to a patriotic soundtrack.

This September, relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor at Labor Day in The Woodlands at Waterway Square! Featuring an evening of live music, children’s activities, strolling entertainers and fireworks, Labor Day in The Woodlands provides an exciting night out for all ages.
Arts In The Park The Woodlands Texas
Enjoy a spring afternoon with family and friends at Arts in the Park at Northshore Park, which also includes a Youth Arts Contest. The fall edition of Arts in the Park features Shakespeare in the Park at Rob Fleming Park, an evening showcasing a unique live theater and musical performance. In addition to a variety of delicious cuisine, attendees can view and purchase original artwork created by local artisans including woodwork, paintings, jewelry, photography and more. Children will enjoy a Kids’ Zone featuring bounce houses, a craft station (while supplies last) and other fun activities.
