Spraygrounds and Splash Pads in The Woodlands

The Woodlands Township runs six spraygrounds, splash areas with ground jets and overhead sprayers where kids can cool off without swimming. Three are in parks and need no pass: May Valley, Timarron and Village Green. The other three sit next to Township pools at Bear Branch, Sawmill and Shadowbend.
Season, hours and pool passes
The spraygrounds are open daily from March 1 to October 31, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. At Bear Branch, Sawmill and Shadowbend a pool pass is needed while the pool is open; when the pool is closed, anyone can use them. Those three also close during private pool rentals.
The six Township spraygrounds
May Valley Sprayground
11598 May Valley Circle, Sterling Ridge
A stand-alone sprayground in May Valley Park with an Old West theme; from above, its two pads look like wagon wheels. Built in 2011 and suited to younger children.

Site plan: Clark Condon Associates for The Woodlands Development Company, 2011.
Timarron Sprayground
550 N. Green Print Circle, Creekside Park
In Timarron Park next to a playground. Its flower design looks like a giant daisy from above, with a frog that rains on kids running through.

Site plan: Clark Condon Associates for The Woodlands Development Company, 2011.
Village Green Sprayground
26400 Kuykendahl Dr., Creekside Park
A small sprayground in Village Green Park near Rob Fleming Park, with shade structures and picnic tables.
Bear Branch Sprayground
5200 Research Forest Dr., Cochran’s Crossing
The newest, opened Feb. 29, 2024 beside Bear Branch Pool, themed with bears, trees, logs and an eagle.
Sawmill Sprayground
2200 Millpark Dr., Grogan’s Mill
Added in the 2012 Sawmill Park renovation and connected to Sawmill Pool.
Shadowbend Sprayground
4991 Lake Woodlands Dr., Cochran’s Crossing
Tree-themed, with a crawl-through rain tree, beside Shadowbend Pool. It’s motion-activated: wave a hand in front of the sensor to start the water.
Spray features inside Township pools
Several pools have spray play inside the pool fence, so pool entry rules apply. Harper’s Landing has a separate spray area with a mushroom water feature. Windvale, Wendtwoods, Cranebrook and the Rob Fleming Aquatic Center have play structures with dumping buckets, and the baby pools at Ridgewood and Sawmill have spray features.
Other splash pads
Two splash pads in The Woodlands aren’t run by the Township. The splash pad in Central Park at Market Street in Town Center is open to the public; Market Street owns and manages it and sets its hours. Carlton Woods, a gated community in Sterling Ridge, has a private sprayground for residents and their guests. The fountains at Waterway Square are decorative and aren’t splash pads.

Sprayground rules and safety
We’re glad you asked! By and large, rules for the spray-grounds are pretty common sense – here’s a great list.
- Do not drink water from any water feature on all spraypads / swimming pools.
- Non-service animals are prohibited.
- Food, pets, smoking, alcoholic beverages and or illegal substances are prohibited within 10′ of the spray-ground.
- No glass containers should be on or near the splash pads.
- Walk, don’t run in or around the spray-ground area.
- Do not climb on the spray features; use the playgrounds to climb.
- Skateboards, bicycles or other items with wheels are not allowed on the spray ground surface at any time.
- No rough-housing, aggressive behavior, or use of profane language is permitted. Play nice!
- Changing diapers within 6′ (six feet) of water feature is prohibited.
- Known use of the water feature while ill with a contagious disease is prohibited.
- Use of the water feature when ill with diarrhea is prohibited.
Additionally, here are some safety guidelines to keep in mind when visiting the spray-grounds:
- Please do not let children play while unattended.
- There are no lifeguards or other staff on duty at many of the spray pads; participate at your own risk.
- Clear the spray-ground area when lightning is spotted.
- Rubber-soled water shoes are recommended for better footing at the spraypads and pools.
- To maintain the water quality, all diaper-aged children should wear plastic pants with tight-fitting elastic at the legs and waist, or swim diapers.
Turning on the water and reporting problems
To start the water, push the button on top of the activator post; at Shadowbend, wave a hand in front of the sensor. The water shuts off on a timer when nobody is playing. Spraygrounds are cleaned daily before they open. To report a broken or dirty sprayground, call Township Parks and Recreation at 281-210-3900.
