The Woodlands Pavilion Seating Chart

Multiuse facility hosting concerts, seasonal events, and more.

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion holds about 16,500 people: 6,500 reserved seats under the tent and about 10,000 on the lawn. A sold-out concert sells a little under that, about 16,000 to 16,350 tickets. The lawn is general admission, so the best spots go to whoever arrives first.

Personal lawn chairs aren’t allowed because of the slope. The Pavilion rents its own for $8 in advance or $10 on arrival (cards only), and they’re free at symphony, ballet and opera nights. At most shows, children 5 and under get in free on the lawn with a ticketed adult.

• Pit: rows 1 to 6 in front of the stage, row 1 closest. Sold as reserved rows at some shows.
• Sections 101, 102 and 103 (lower level): rows A to Z, then AA to HH, with no rows I, O or U. Row A is the front.
• Box seats: in the back half of section 102, labeled Box A through Box N.
• Sections 104 to 111 (mezzanine, upper level): rows A to W, behind a short front row with wheelchair spaces.
• Seat numbers: seat 1 is on the left side of each section as you face the stage, and numbers climb to the right. Rows get longer toward the back, so the last seat number changes from row to row.
• Accessible seating: designated spaces in several sections, sold through the box office or Ticketmaster.
• Lawn: up the hill behind the mezzanine, about as wide as the tent, with no assigned spots. The North and South gates sit on either side of the seats, and more gates open onto the sides of the lawn.

The Woodlands Pavilion Seating Chart has “obstructed view” seats in the highest numbered seats in Sections 106 and 108, and in the lowest numbered seats in 107 and 109. The obstruction is relatively minor, however, and some people find that these seats can be among the best seats in the house, as they are typically offered at a great price.

Tickets for these seats are marked “OV”. The tent’s large support poles, seen below, are what can block part of the view.

The Pavilion opened April 27, 1990, with the Houston Symphony, followed by Frank Sinatra and then Alabama with Clint Black. It had 3,000 reserved seats and room for 7,000 on the lawn.

1,900 uncovered reserved seats added and the lawn enlarged by 1,100, with more restrooms and concessions. About 13,000 in all.

A larger lawn opened after the 2000 season, bringing capacity to about 16,500.

Hurricane Ike shredded the tent on Sept. 13, 2008. The rebuild started that December and took about 160 days: a roof roughly two and a half times larger, about 2,000 more reserved seats, and every reserved seat under cover. The project cost about $10 million. It reopened in May 2009 with Dave Matthews Band, with 6,387 covered seats and a total of 16,040; today’s published capacity is about 16,500.
